The Rotary Club of Ikeja has donated equipment worth millions of naira to the management of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, in continuation of its yearly tradition, which began 44 years ago.

The ‎yearly Christmas visit, which formed part of the club’s annual calendar, enabled members to spend the day, dancing and celebrating the season with the patients and staff on duty, during which they presented patients on admission with gifts in the spirit of the season.

The patients were not only splashed with gifts, but they also enjoyed the privilege of interacting with the officers of the club, including past presidents, the district governor and other personalities, who converged on the hospital premises as early as 7am on Christmas Day.

Speaking at the event, the club’s President, Mr. Adelaja Adeniyi, facilitated with patients for the privilege to be alive to celebrate Ch
ristmas.

While praying for their quick recovery, Adeniyi also used the occasion to pay tributes to the founding fathers of the club, who initiated the tradition over four decades ago, and which the club has sustained till date.

Highlight of the visit was an award to various deserving departments in the hospitals for their distinguished attitude to work and warm relationship with their patients.

In the overall contest, three departments emerged top and were each rewarded with a trophy and cash gifts.

Some of the Rotarians in attendance include the immediate past president, Laitan Oduroye; president-elect, Muyiwa Fagboola; past presidents- Oliva Johnson; Kola Sodipo, and his wife, Adenike; Funsho Peters; Lanre Fasehun; Ade Oyenekan and Olusola Akinsiku.

On ground to receive the visitors were the Director, Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha; Director, Nursing Services, Mrs. Adebola Aina; Director, Hospital Administration, Mrs. Adio, as well as other members of LASUTH staff.

While commending the efforts of the club, the hospital’s management noted that the yearly culture of rewarding hardwork and good conducts towards patients has greatly impacted its staff.
