A statement signed by Joseph Evah on behalf the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), said the reign of Oba Ogunwusi would enhance the glory of Yoruba race, adding that his ascending the throne of Oduduwa without politics of bitterness has further confirmed Yoruba nation’s value for tradition and culture.

Evah noted that the late Ooni in his lifetime strengthened the influence of Yoruba culture and tradition across the globe, adding that “it is our belief that this new development shows that a young visionary and committed Prince will continue from where the late Ooni stopped.”

He noted: “The Ijaw people of Niger Delta celebrate with the people of the South West for this great achievement. The popular acceptance of the new Ooni is a thing of pride and a lesson to the rest of the country to uphold their culture and tradition in spite of influence of politics and Western education. It gladdens Africans that the Yoruba nation has further displayed to the entire world that African culture and tradition will never die and shall live forever.
