ICPC inaugurates anti-corruption unit for FUBK

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offices Commission (ICPC) has inaugurated the Anti-corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) for the Federal University Birnin-Kebbi (FUBK).

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offices Commission (ICPC) has inaugurated the Anti-corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) for the Federal University Birnin-Kebbi (FUBK).

Six members of ACTU were also inducted at the ceremony, which was conducted by the agency’s official in Kebbi State, Mr. Munir Muhammad, on behalf of the Chairman of the Commission.

In his remarks, the Acting vice-chancellor of the university, Dr. Sahabi Maidamma Jabo enjoined members to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties, while warning that there would be no scapegoat in the fight against corruption in the institution.

Dr Jabo further urged the members to exercise due diligence in the discharge of their duties assuring them of management commitment towards successful operation.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Commission represented by the zonal commissioner, north west, Kaduna, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, expressed appreciation to the institution’s management for providing an enabling environment for the anti-graft agency to discharge its duties.

He enjoined the anti-corruption unit of the university to use the inauguration as a turning point so as to ensure that the organisation does its business in a more accountable and transparent manner.

Adigun highlighted the ICPC Act and standing orders for the FUBK-ACTU to inculcate in the pursuit of their anti-corruption drive. He explained that every petition will be thoroughly investigated and those affected would be called upon to clarify the allegation.

In his remarks, the ACTU chairman in the institution, Dr. Sirajo Abdulrahman, assured that the unit would work towards curtailing any form of corrupt practices in the institution.
