Former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida

Former military head of state Ibrahim Babangida has endorsed the Senate President and Presidential aspirants, Bukola Saraki, as the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

IBB affirmed his support for Saraki during the Senate President’s visit to Babangida’s Minna resident,  Niger State.

“You are much more than prepared because you have been a governor in a state, a legislator and a Senator,” Babangida said.

“You have been holding the Senate for the past three years very well and the Senate has been working very well under you. I’m, therefore, convinced that you have what it takes to be president,” he added

Babangida said the Saraki won his supports owing to his focus three important areas – unity, economic development and security – which he said are very dear to him.

“You spoke of three important things that are very dear to me and those of us who fought to keep this country together, the issues which are unity, economic development and security,” Babangida said.

The former head of state, therefore, declares that Saraki has the right objectives to lead the country because the economic development and security of the country are the key principles that should drive the leadership in Nigeria.

Saraki will be bidding for PDP’s presidential ticket against an increasing number of political bigwigs that include former Senate president, David Mark, former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Ibrahim Dankwambo, former governor of Gombe state, Sule Lamido.
