Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared that no amount of politicking and plots by some disgruntled leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can stop his second term

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared that no amount of politicking and plots by some disgruntled leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can stop his second term bid this year.

Akeredolu faulted the opposing stance of the third term senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, who had said that APC chieftains were united against his re-election

Boroffice, who is also the Deputy Senate Leader, is a member of the APC faction in the state, Unity Group, which comprises aggrieved party leaders working to stop the incumbent governor’s second term bid.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure yesterday, said: “Governor Akeredolu is not a desperate politician. He is not threatened by any gang-up in respect of the 2020 governorship race.

“His belief in the sanctity of the people’s backing remains unshaken. However, the public, especially all lovers of our dear party, the APC, deserve to know that the vituperations of Senator Boroffice are fallouts of deflated hopes.

“Our initial perception of the pernicious outburst of the senator was to ignore him because such was misguided. At best, empathy was most desirable for a man whose lust for excessive mischief has severally spurred him to paths of perfidy against his South-West kinsmen.

“This is more so that his huge investment to destroy the party and stem the pace of development in Ondo State appears to have yielded no positive results.”

He noted that despite the stumbling blocks against the reconciliation mechanism put in place by the governor and national leadership of the party, the incumbent governor is not scared of the party’s primary in July and election in October.

“Just as the government of Ondo State, led by Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, believes in the right of all qualified persons to aspire to be governor, it is perhaps untoward on the part of supposed leaders to be unrestrained in the pursuit of their ambitions,” he said.
