Over 30, 000 families in Lagos State went home, yesterday with joy, as they received free food items, medical check ups and health supplement, courtesy of the House on the Rock Project Spread Outreach.

The outreach took place at Elegushi, Ikeja, Marwa, Lagos Island and Aguda communities simultaneously, where food items, such as rice, groundnut oil, frozen chicken and other consumables were distributed. Parties were also thrown for children.

Expressing her appreciation, a widow and mother of four, Olabisi Muritala, said herself and children had nothing to eat at home, as they have been finding it difficult to feed twice a day.

“We don’t have food to eat; that is why I brought my children to receive these food items. I am happy that my children will feed well this Christmas. This initiative should continue, to help those that cannot afford to feed,” she said.

To Precious Makanjuola and his family of four: “This food will go a long way to sustain my family. Right now we don’t have any food to eat this festive season, I pray God to bless the church and everyone that donated these items for the needy. With the rice and other items, Christmas will be great for my family.”

Excited Blessing Ofure, with a family of seven, said the initiative has brought smile to the faces of the needy and the less privileged in the society, adding: “This is a good initiative because it helps people as the suffering in the land is too much. I thank God for this initiative, God will bless the Pastor and those he has used to bring this initiative to the needy in the society.”

On her part, Uchechi Ejike, a mother of four said: “The situation in my family is very bad, the situation in the country is very bad, but the man of God has really done well for us. These food items will help my family feed well this Christmas. We will eat enough and we are really happy.”

Ejike urged other churches and men of God to emulate the initiative, adding: “If they do, the situation of people in the country would not be like this. There would be less hunger.”

Speaking at the event in Elegushi, the Metropolitan Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, stated that the initiative and other transformational projects spearheaded by the organisation, is to show God’s love to those who are in need and disadvantaged in the society.

Adefarasin, represented by the Director of Missions, Goke Coker, said Project Spread is an indisputable way to share with others the meaning of love and giving, adding that it is a clear example of the true meaning of Christmas and an inspiration to others to do the same, regardless of how big or small, in their own communities.

He further stated that hopefully, “church bodies, which are veritable social nets, and other corporate organisations, can become conduits for channeling food products and other essential items to those in need.”
