An erstwhile Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico, Prof. Iorwuese Hagher, has urged Nigerians to believe in one Nigeria despite the security challenges bedeviling the nation.Hagher, a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a current presidential aspirant under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), said this at the weekend while celebrating his 68th birthday with Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Abagena Camp in Makurdi Local Council of Benue State.

According to him, it would be foolhardy for people to think of pulling out of Nigeria and start demanding for the creation of their country or republic as a result of the way and manner things are going wrong in the country. He said that despite the diverse nature of the country, many things had joined or linked them together which must be uphold.

“No politician should deceive them into indulging in acts that are capable of causing disaffection as well as disunity among them in order to score cheap political points.‘’The time has come to put an end to religious and tribal politics and work together as a people to move the country forward,’’ he said.Besides, Ambassador Chive Kaave commended Hagher for celebrating his birthday with the IDPs, stating that such a gesture will go a long way to give them hope and a sense of belonging.

Also, the Camp Manager, Mr. James Iorkyaa, said that they were overwhelmed with the show of love exhibited by such a high personality like Hagher who, instead of celebrating his birthday with the powerful in the society, decided to do it with them.Meanwhile, in his remarks, Dr. Richard Asema, who appreciated Hagher for his love, prayed to God to give him many years so as to continue to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden, dejected, oppressed and less privileged in the society.
