The President, Youth Wing of Urhobo Progress Union (Ighelle R’Urhobo), Comrade Ovie Igho Anthony, was reportedly abducted Friday night by gunmen.

Sources told The Guardian that Ovie was on his way to his base in Abraka when the vehicle he was traveling in ran into a barricade mounted by the gunmen.

After dispossessing the occupants of their belongings, the gunmen were said to have marched the Youth leader away.

The incident took place at about 9pm along the ever busy Eku–Abraka road, precisely at Oria; where cases of robbery/kidnapping have assumed an alarming dimension, despite several Police checkpoints along the route.

Penultimate week, a staff of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Mr. Vincent Oyibode and his wife were kidnapped on the same axis.
