A chieftain of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Dr. Sani Adamu has said results of gubernatorial elections so far declared show that Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar defeated President Muhammadu Buhari.

He stated this at a media briefing in Kaduna yesterday, insisting that Atiku should continue with the court case and retrieve his mandate, adding: “There is no way Nigerians would have voted Buhari for a second term.

“Why would Nigerians vote him for a second term? Nigerians are tired of hunger, poverty, religious disharmony, insecurity and unemployment. Like a thief in the night, Buhari’s men changed the results to favour him.”

Sani, a political analyst and founder of Deservation.Org, added that results of the governorship polls from Kano, Bauchi, Adamawa and Oyo states showed that Atiku had more votes in those states than the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) credited to him.

“The elections in Sokoto, Adamawa, Plateau, Benue and Bauchi states were declared inconclusive after it became clear that the PDP was leading in those states.

“Also in Imo State the results were torn, while electoral process was halted in Rivers State where APC was clearly loosing.

“After PDP won 43 of 44 local government areas with over 16,000 votes and the 44th council being a PDP stronghold and the unofficial result has it that PDP won Kano with a wide margin, INEC postponed the election,” he stated.

He said if PDP won those states with wide margins, where do we place Atiku’s votes?

“All these are because PDP is winning in those states and APC that has brought shame on Nigeria’s democracy, is planning to rig those states with the Osun election template.

“This only revealed that Atiku won those states with wide margin but was rigged in favor of Buhari, he said, adding: “It is only a matter of time and Atiku will expose the APC and its rigging machine.”

However, the PDP in Rivers State has demanded the immediate release of a pregnant women and other members of the party detained at the 6 Division, Nigeria Army and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

It expressed concerns that those being detained were in critical health condition from gunshots and physical torture by soldiers and police.

A statement issued yesterday in Port Harcourt by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the State PDP Chairman, Jerry Needam, said the detainees were arrested during the March 9 governorship and state Assembly elections.

According to Needam, “Those still languishing in the army and police detention are, Professor Israel Owate, Dr. Fred Ateng, Deinma Iyalla, who are all special advisers to Governor Nyesom Wike,” among others.
