Group tasks government on transparent disposal of recovered assets
A non-governmental organisation, BudgIT Nigeria, has urged the Federal Government to dispose recovered assets in a transparent manner in line with Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership National Action Plan.
The group also advised government to make public reports of assets.
In a statement yesterday, the group observed that the order by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Ministry of Finance to sell the assets within six months was received with mixed feelings owing to supposed official secrecy.
It stressed the need for government to sustain its commitment to ‘Open Government partnership’ and strengthening of the nation’s asset recovery legislations.
