Group raises alarm, accuses Okorocha of selling state property

‘It Is Not True’

An Imo-based group, Imo People’s Action for Democracy (IPAD), has accused the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, of approving the sale of property belonging to the state government.

But the state government has debunked the allegation, saying that its accusers were into imaginary accusations ranging from withdrawing N17 billion to selling and carting away of property of the state.A statement by Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, had, last week, dismissed the allegations.

Statement signed yesterday by the officials of the IPAD, Aku Obidinma (coordinator) and Chibundu Uchegbu (secretary) reads: “Our attention has been drawn to the above captioned development where Imo properties are now being hurriedly stolen in the guise of auctioning and other forms of illegal purchase, and we wish to use this medium to alert Imolites and also condemn this criminal act. We call on the public not to patronise Governor Okorocha and his cohorts in their last minute efforts to sell off the little that is remaining of Imo State after their over seven years pillage of our common wealth.

“It beats our imagination on why a government that stole so much from Imo in the last seven years is not yet satisfied with the so much it has stolen and still resort to this last minute massive looting within few days to her exit. “The so-called buyers and contractors who have allowed themselves to be used as fronts to loot Imo must realise that they must be made to account for such as Imolites will definitely ensure that the incoming popular administration is pressured to probe these illegal sales.”
