Group offers free medicare in Delta

doctorA GROUP, Adaigbo Cultural Organisation (ACO), has offered free medical service to over 100 indigenes and residents of Ogwashi-Uku town in Aniocha North Local Council of Delta State.

The beneficiaries, most of who are diabetic and hypertensive, had eye defect, blood pressure and were treated after diagnosis.

Some with cases of cataracts and‎ high blood pressure were scheduled for eye surgeries and further treatment.

The group’s president, Jonny Ubaka, said the outreach was to help the locals, especially those who could not afford medicare due to financial constraints.

He explained that his association was determined to help indigent Ogwashi Uku people and was funding its activities through donations from members, as it was yet to get support from any of the international bodies.

He was, however, optimistic that ACO would get help in due course from well-meaning Nigerians, adding that the programme “has so far cost us over N2 million already.”
