• Urges Youths To Embrace Peace

The Reformed Youth Movement of Nigeria (REYOM) has decried the high level of injustice in the country, which it said has led to agitations by various groups. The group, however, chided those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria, insisting that the bond keeping Nigeria together is so strong for any group separate.

Speaking after their meeting in Abuja, National Coordinator of the group, Ejikeme Nwosu, faulted the October 1 ultimatum given by Arewa youths for Igbos to leave the North and called on the youths to embrace peace, be productive and imbibe good qualities that would help them participate actively in governance.

Nwosu regretted that youths in the country have been unfairly treated by the political class, who instead of empowering them, only see them as instruments of thuggery and destabilisation of the country’s fragile peace.

“I believe both Arewa youths and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) do not know the intricacies of the bond binding Nigeria. We have gone far, lived together and inter-married and most of these youths making provocative statements have never been to any other region. “We must work hard to uphold our peaceful coexistence,” he stated.
