General Muhammadu Buhari even as it cautioned Nigerians that it is not yet victory for the masses..

Speaking in Akure, Ondo State yesterday, the organisation’s former South West chairman and chieftain, Ifeanyi Odili “called on Nigerians not to be over joyous over the victory of General Muhammadu
Buhari,” because of the high expectations of the masses from the
President-elect.

According to him: “The CD will not join other Nigerians to congratulate a man who is facing a very Herculean task and whose end we do not know.”
He rather enjoined Nigerians to form “a strong opposition to always remind the President-elect of all his electioneering promises.
“We can only congratulate him if he fulfils his promises to Nigerians after he leaves office. That is if he succeeds in weaning Nigeria off the endemic corruption which has eaten deep into our system.”
Odili lamented the failure of the successive governments and their
inability to critically check corruption, which he described as “thebane of Nigeria’s social, political and economic development.”

The CD chieftain disclosed that: “We in the CD regretted that soon
after we chased away the military and eventual return to democracy, we left the entire process in the hands of politicians thinking that our
troubles as a people were over.

“Consequently, we have woken up from our slumber; we are out to
ensure that every promise made by Buhari is fulfilled to the end.
Otherwise his good names built over the years and his much-touted
anti-corruption postures would be rubbished,” he said.
