Government implores youths to enroll in NDE training programmes

As the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) graduates 500 youths in Anambra State, the Federal Government has urged youths to enroll in its training programmes.

Labour and Productivity Minister, Chris Ngige, sponsored the graduands at the training programme.

He said the Federal Government was eager to provide jobs to the unemployed youths, so that they would not only provide employment for themselves, but also become employers of labour.

Speaking at Idemili South Local Council Secretariat, Ojoto, he announced that the graduands would be provided with funds to enable them to start their own businesses.

Ngige also urged them to form cooperatives to strengthen whatever businesses they want to engage in, adding that the cost of engaging in cooperatives would be reduced for them.

Anambra State coordinator of the NDE, Mr. Iroegbu Eke Joseph, had said that the concept of the training was borne out of the desire to ensure that unemployed persons in the country were exposed to the benefits of self-reliance.

This, he, added is provided through the production and marketing of household products like soap and disinfectants.

He said: “It is my belief that you have been well exposed to the unquantifiable benefits provided by the opportunity to improve and better yourselves and the country at large.

The coordinator advised the beneficiaries to put into work, whatever knowledge and experience they have gathered in the training.

He stressed the need for them to gain fame, strive for expertise, shun fear of the unknown and develop determination to succeed, despite known and unknown obstacles.
