Gombe dissolves six governing councils, approves N113m SUVs for deputy governor
Gombe State Government has dissolved governing councils of six higher educational institutions, just as it approved N113 million for the purchase of two Land Cruiser Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for the deputy governor.
The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Kwami, disclosed this to newsmen after yesterday’s Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.
However, the Commissioner for Tertiary Institutions, Mishack Lauko, explained that though the governor, as a visitor to the schools, had the constitutional right to either appoint or dissolve members of the councils, “the law says no council should go beyond five years. These councils were inherited from the previous government.”
According to Kwami, the council also discussed and approved several road constructions across the state and COVID-19 palliatives for the targeted citizenry.
