GCU Old Boys’ Annual dinner holds Today

The sixth Annual National Dinner Party of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) holds at 6.00 p.m. today, Saturday, October 7 at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The occasion would be chaired by Ambassador Christopher Kolade, with the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as special guests of honour, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as chief host and President General of GCUOBA Worldwide, Prof, Ogbemi Omatete, as host.

Dr. Chris Uwaje, one of Nigeria’s ICT gurus, would deliver the keynote address on the “Critical Role of Information and Communication Technology and Innovation in Education- Imperative for Schools.”

A statement by Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Alfred Okoigun, said this year’s dinner would, as usual, feature lifetime achievement awards to distinguished old boys of the school, including Ambassador Daniel Omatsone; Ambassador Edward Martins; Mr. Frank Longe; Prof Olu Akinyanju; Chief Amos Olaniyan; Prof Obaro Ikime; Mr. Guy Otobo; and Dr. Titus Okereke.

Chief Gray Longe, Mr. Sam Akpe and Prof Alfred Opubor, among others, would be honoured posthumously.
