The Gbong Gwon Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, has warned the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, to desist from any act capable of causing chaos in the state.

He spoke yesterday at the Nsem Berom yearly cultural festival in the state, which took place at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.

Buba spoke against the backdrop of the government’s move to reduce his power as the traditional ruler of Jos by giving autonomy to Ujah Anaguta and Riyom council, which were formerly under him and thereby limiting his ancestral influence to Barkin Ladi and Jos South.

He also reminded Lalong that the IDPs in the state should be given the same treatment like their counterparts in the Northeast, saying they also need food and shelter so that they could go back to their ancestral lands.

The monarch recalled the ugly incident in June last year that claimed the lives of over 250 people in Gashish and neighboring villages where the governor made a request to stem the attack by establishing a unit of Mobile Police unit there.

Noting that the request had been granted following the approval of the President, the monarch lamented that till date, no mobile police unit has been established in Gashish.

He appealed to the governor not to be partial after his re-election but to be father to all even as he cautioned him not to meddle with the traditional institutions in the state.
