Speaking during a courtesy visit to The Guardian, the state coordinator of Special Marshals in Abuja, Usman Adaji, noted that the FRSC was established to sensitise citizens on safety on the roads to save lives.

“The FRSC is standing on a tripod. We have the Regular Marshals who wear uniforms and are paid by Federal Government and the Special Marshals who are members of the society with independent income.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday led a team to The Guardian office in Abuja to sensitise Nigerians to the need to pay more attention to road safety and its workshop coming up on Saturday.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to The Guardian, the state coordinator of Special Marshals in Abuja, Usman Adaji, noted that the FRSC was established to sensitise citizens on safety on the roads to save lives.

He added that the Special Marshals have a duty to encourage citizens to imbibe the right attitude on the roads to save their lives and those of others.

Adaji stressed the need for the FRSC to partner the media to enlighten citizens on the duties of Special Marshals, noting that the visit was initiated due to poor coverage FRSC’s activities in the country.

“Through the media we will sensitise and educate citizens on the duties of the special marshals and to let them know that life has no duplicate”.

“The FRSC is standing on a tripod. We have the Regular Marshals who wear uniforms and are paid by Federal Government and the Special Marshals who are members of the society with independent income.

“The third arm is the NYSC and school road safety clubs. We must do what is right because life has no duplicate,” he explained.

Responding, the newspaper’s Abuja Bureau Chief, Igho Akeregha, expressed gratitude to the team and pledged the organisation’s support for and safety on the roads.

He said ignorance on the part of some road users had led to avoidable friction with road Safety Marshals, adding that the campaign was in the interest of all Nigerians.
