Lagos-CollapsedTragedy struck in Isheri Magodo area of Lagos, yesterday, when four children of the same family got trapped in a collapsed building, which left their mother seriously injured.

The building reportedly collapsed early yesterday after a heavy rainfall caused a mudslide from the cleavage of a hill beside River Ogun, which hit the family’s three-bedroom flat.

The Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed to The Guardian that the mother of two out of the four children was rescued around 8.am and was immediately rushed to Tabasco General Hospital.

Farinloye confirmed the identities of the dead as Sylva Odiah (23 years), Sayo Odiah (15), Clinton Odiah (8) and Endurance Odiah (8).

“Unfortunately, the room where the victims resides was badly affected,” he said.

Officials of the Lagos Building Control, Lagos State Environmental Management Agency (LASEMA), NEMA and the state fire service were on ground for the rescue operations.

The incident happened on Orisha street, Isheri Magodo, Imodium, Ojodu/Berger. Another mudslide hit another single room building, but no life was lost.
