Four suspected cult members have been killed during two rival cult groups clash at about 7:30p.m. at a nightclub at Kwata Zawan in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The cult groups had engaged in a battle of supremacy leading to their clash at the nightclub. When they came face to face on Wednesday, after a long duel, four cult members were left dead while others sustained injuries.

The Plateau State police command, confirmed the incident, saying they received a distress call to its effect said that unknown cult groups armed with cutlasses, axe and guns attacked themselves near a nightclub at Kwata Zawan in Jos.

According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Matthias Terna Tyopev, as a result of the attack, four persons lost their lives. “The bodies of the victims have been deposited at the Plateau Specialist Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State command, Mr. Austin Agbonlahor, has directed the immediate commencement of investigation into the crime.”

In another development, parents of the five secondary school pupils in Kaduna State who drowned in River Kaduna during an excursion have raised the alarm over nonpayment of compensation to the affected families.

The parents said while commending President Muhammadu Buhari’s pronouncement to investigate and compensate families of the affected students, they lamented that the president’s order has not been carried out by the state government.

The parents at a press conference yesterday at the Kaduna secretariat of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), however, commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai for adopting and approving the compensation, but expressed regret that the Commissioner of Finance sat on its disbursement since October 11, 2018.

The tragedy befell the five of students of Victory Secondary School in October 11, 2017, when they went on excursion, following negligence of the State Water Board.
