Wife of the Senate President and founder of Well-being foundation, Toyin Ojora Saraki, has urged mothers across the country to ensure that their children are fully immunised to prevent them from falling ill with malaria.

Stating this on Tuesday in Abuja during a walk with health workers to mark the World Malaria Day and World Vaccination Week, Saraki advised mothers to make sure that their children are fully immunised and also keep proper records of immunisation dates.

She said: “I don’t want any mosquito to bite your children for them to have malaria. Today, we are protected from polio and we are protected from malaria, the Federal Government will continue to protect with immunisation and all the good things that gives health to our children and our family”

According to Saraki, Nigeria women have realised that immunisation, breastfeeding and protecting the child from malaria is the best investment they can make for their children.

She, stressing the need to invest in primary health care, said: “We believe that primary health care is closer to the people and that is were investments should be concentrated, health is wealth, primary health care not only look at maternity new born child but look at your health from birth to age including the non communicable diseases like hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes and really to get the health being mentioned we have to put health to were it count at the frontline, we are going to win this battle and make it afford”.

Saraki further donated insecticide treated nets to enable them protect their children from malaria scourge. She said: “Take this insecticide net home and make sure that your homes are clean, make sure there is no dirty gutter water around and you use the mosquito net to cover your children when they are going to sleep, anytime from 4:00p.m. because that is the time that mosquitoes operates and bring about malaria.”
