Foundation pledges to promote academic excellence

The Younis Olatunji Bashorun Education Foundation (YOBEF) has pledged to promote academic excellence at all levels in Lagos State.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Alhaji Abayomi Aiyepola, said it identifies challenges facing teaching and learning in the 21st century and decided to support the sector through scholarships and grants to brilliant, but indigent students.

According to him, YOBEF has been promoting the culture of healthy rivalry among schools through debates and quiz competitions, across all the Education Districts.

On his part, Secretary of the foundation, Mr. Rasheed Adesina said it will also be funding academic research works, as plans are underway to extend the annual bursary awards to tertiary institutions

Also speaking, a Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Public Service and a member of Younis Foundation, Dr. Olajide Bashorun urged beneficiaries of the bursary award to use the opportunity judiciously.
