A daily counseling session for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) patients has been introduced by the Vicar Hope Foundation (VHF), a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) founded by the Abia State Governor’s wife, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu at the Abia Sickle Cell Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Umuahia.

Speaking, yesterday, at the maiden counseling session led by Dr Godswill Ogbonna, Deaconess Ikpeazu urged patients to apply all the counsels given them. She said that VHF undertook statewide campaigns to churches, markets and other public fora to educate members of the public on how to prevent and avoid SCD spread. The medical team educated participants on the origin, prevention and management of SCD.
