A twenty-one-year-old student of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo State, name withheld, was serially raped by a gang of five boys, who recorded their sex escapade with a mobile phone.

The gang, though one was still at large, was paraded yesterday in Akure alongside 17 other suspects who were charged for car snatching, kidnapping, cultism and murder by the Ondo State Police Command.

The Guardian learnt that the rape victim, a fresher, was tricked to the venue of the crime by his boyfriend, Akinola Timilehin, who colluded with four others to commit the crime.

Others were Mr. Olagbaju Tobi, Mr. Adetuyi Olakunle, a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo; Adeyemi Adebisi and Eric Nwage, who is at large. They would be charged for rape, conspiracy and threat to life.

It was gathered that the suspects threatened the victim, but the incident was reported to the college management by her friend, who defied all threats to punish Akinola and the victim.

The state Commissioner for Police, Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, confirmed that “the victim was raped and during the act, one of the suspects, Adetuyi Olakunle recorded their heinous crime as they take their turns on their victims.”

Ibifuro-Harrison disclosed that the victim was abandoned with a threat that they would use charms and other diabolical means to attack her if she reported the crime.

“The case was reported to the school authority and the suspects were arrested, the phone and charm used in perpetrating the crime were recovered and the case was transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation on July 6.”

The commissioner added that victim was later visited at Ile-Ife where she is receiving treatment and that the case would soon be charged to court.”
