FG urged to use PPP to complete abandoned projects

The Federal Government must explore Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement to complete abandoned projects across the country.

A member of the Fiscal and Responsibility Commission (FRC), Mr. Ola Tijani, made the suggestion in Abeokuta, yesterday, when he led a team to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, to inspect abandoned projects at the centre.

The team was on a tour to review abandoned Federal Government projects in the state with a view to making recommendations for their completion.

He explained that the Commission had the responsibility to ensure prudent management of government funds and transparency in project implementation and execution.

The hospital’s Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, called on the Federal Government to increase budgetary allocation to the health sector.

He told his visitors that he inherited a N300 million debt. He also hinted that of the N361million allocation for the facility in the current year’s budget, the centre had so far received only N54million.

The Director explained that the situation had made it difficult for the centre to perform optimally, lamenting the deplorable condition of medical equipment in various departments.
