Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the Federal Government of playing politics with security of lives and property in the State.

He stated that over the last nine months, the Federal Government has redeployed three police commissioners in the state with the heads of other security agencies juggled frequently to ensure that they don’t have a grasp of the security on ground.

Wike stated this while addressing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state yesterday.

According to him, ahead of the re-run elections, the Federal Government has embarked on mass security transfers.

He claimed that pliant security operatives have been deployed with directives to rig the elections.

“They can bring as much security personnel into the state as they wish, but the people will protect their votes. We will never go back to the era of darkness when Rivers resources are stolen to fund external political activities,” he said.

Ahead of next week’s national and state legislative re-run elections, the governor has urged the people to courageously defend their votes irrespective of mass deployment of security agents by the Federal Government.

The governor stated that he has provided logistics support to all security agencies to enable them to tackle cult-related violence in different communities.

He said several cultists had been arrested by different security agencies in the state, noting that most of them were facing prosecution.
