The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the Uhogua camp of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Edo State.

According to the commission’s Federal Commissioner, Sadiq Umar-Faruq, the gesture was to alleviate the suffering of the inmates.

He said: “Our responsibility is to coordinate national action for the migrants, returnees, refugees and displaced persons. We are here to show love, give hope and support that would keep IDPs going until their homes are safe.”

Represented by his Special Assistant, Hajiya Halima Musa, the federal commissioner said the agency was committed to executing President Muhammadu Buhari’s welfare plan for IDPs nationwide.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, represented by his Special Assistant on Special Duty, Gowon Yakubu, said the relief materials would complement ongoing efforts and tackle shortages at the facility.

The camp coordinator, Pastor Folorusho Solomon, lauded the Federal Government for the donation, adding that the Obaseki administration had provided an enabling environment for the wellbeing of the inmates.
