FG begins public safety alert ahead of elections
The Federal Government has announced the introduction of a public safety and security mobile application known as Nigerian Internal Security and Public Safety Alert System (NIPSAS) to ensure safety, especially during the elections.
Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau said the mobile app is an inclusive initiative that provides access to major internal security agencies to send distress call in cases of emergency.
Briefing newsmen yesterday, Dambazau said the app has a feature that links the public to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), the Federal Fire Service (FSS) and the Nigeria Police among others.
He noted that the app will become handy during the elections period because it is a fast means of alerting the security on any safety and security threats.
He said: “The challenge we had of lack of coordination and collaboration among the various security agencies has been overcome with this initiative.
