The governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose on Monday said he has uncovered plots by the former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi backed by the ruling All Progressives Congress to manipulate the Nigerian judiciary to remove him as the governor of Ekiti State.

“They have concluded plans to go to court to reverse my election,” Fayose said at a press conference at the Ekiti State’s capital Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The governor, however, said he believed the judiciary would not lend itself to the alleged plans to oust him.

“I am sure we have noblemen at the Supreme Court who would not allow the image to be smeared. Nigeria is bigger than all of us. The APC-led federal government cannot win all and every state.”

Fayose was elected the governor of the southwestern state on June 21, 2014, defeating the then incumbent, Kayode Fayemi, whom he is now accusing of mounting pressure on the Supreme Court to unseat him.

After losing his re-election, Fayemi was quick to accept defeat and he congratulated his opponent.

“If indeed this is the will of the Ekiti People, I stand in deference to your will, Fayemi said in a statement on June 22, 2014. “If the result of the elections is an expression of the voice of our people, we must all heed your voice.”

But Fayemi’s party rejected the election result and approached Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal to seek redress, hinging its petition on the fact that Fayose should not have allowed to stand for the election since he was impeached in his first tenure as the state governor. The tribunal, however, dismissed party’s petition on December 19, 2014, for lacking merit.

APC suffered further losses at the Court of Appeal on February 16, 2015, and two months later at the Supreme Court.

But the allegations Fayemi, Nigeria’s current minister of solid minerals were unfounded his media aide said.

Yinka Oyebode said he was unaware his boss had approached the Supreme Court to reverse a judgement that validated Fayose’s election as the governor of Ekiti State. He blamed Fayose’s ‘wild imagination’ for the “unsubstantiated allegations” and noted that his boss had no words for the governor.

“The minister is a serious minded person and we did not consider it appropriate to dignify Fayose with any response,” said Yinka Oyebode.

When are they planning to unseat Fayose? I am a fan of his but this claim is ridiculous.

Fayemi will need to come afresh from the lower courts, which is his right.
He cannot ask the Supreme Court to reverse itself, unless the Court was provided wrong information by the records coming from lower court, and if their decision would have been different if they had had the right information.
From my understanding, the Supreme Court is only interested in the legality of the processes in the delivery of justice coming from the lower courts.
I would love an expert to help us here.
I do not know if something else is coming, like the bribery case with GEJ’s money and if court officers were bribed..which would , obviously, open a new can of worms.

Pay no mind to the lunatic bro, he is a frivolous person n it shows in everything he does n he knows there are grounds for a possible judicial review of that SC judgement. The SC can review its own judgement n reverse it if new evidence comes to light that was hitherto hidden from it during the trial….

Can’t this Fayose chap focus on governance? He gives the impression that he is all talk and loud mouth. The Ekit people must be fed up with all this talk and paranoia. Hr needs to calm down and govern for the Ekiti state.
