Falae, SDP leaders berate major political parties for ‘lacking ideology’

Nationsl leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Monday berated both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for lacking the “ideology to solve various socio-economic challenges facing the country.”

They urged Nigerians to support the party in its quest to wrest power in 2019 and rebuild the nation.

Led by the national chairman and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, the SDP goons yesterday made their position known at the Bodija, Ibadan residence of erstwhile governor of Oyo State, Chief Christopher Alao-Akala.

Others at the meeting were former Minister for Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran; Ambassador Yemi Farounbi; another former minister, Dr. Olu Agunloye; Taiwo Akeju; Chief Kola Balogun and Princess Oyeronke Akinlolu.

The SDP chiefs echoed the need for “all patriotic Nigerians who believe in national unity, justice, equity and progress to come together and rescue the nation.”

Both Falae and Adeniran stressed the ideologies of the party, just as they expressed optimism that Nigerians across the geopolitical zones were daily queuing behind them to fast-track the country from May, 2019.

Falae said they were in Ibadan to start the rebuilding of a new Nigeria project, so as to safeguard the future of the nation from the “precipice and current rudderless leadership.”

According to the 1999 presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), “there is a need for us to be together to save Nigeria and restore democracy by bringing about a new hope for fulfillment. “

Other South West leaders, who spoke at the event, eulogised the political antecedents of their host, assuring him of all benefits in SDP.

Responding, Alao-Akala said he was humbled to receive the high-powered delegation, describing Falae and others as credible Nigerians who had made their marks in politics. He promised to get back to the party very soon after consultations.
