Experts task government on curriculum adjustment for nation building
The Director of Academic Planning at Anchor University, Lagos, Prof. Johnson Oladele Fatokun has urged the Federal Government to review schools’ curriculum and teaching methodology.
He made the call yesterday in Lagos at the 24th Valedictory and Prize Giving event of EMCOY Favoured Schools.
Fatoun, who spoke on “The Role of Education in Nation Building,’’ said quality education was necessary for a sustainable development and nation building.
He added that children’s literature was also crucial in meeting pressing needs for global competitiveness.
The director, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, said children’s analytical and critical thinking skills and attitude should be developed to deal with uncertainty and crises at the national and global level.
He said: “Information Communication Technology (ICT) lies at the heart of today’s society and it is closely associated with educational achievement and other aspects of human endeavor.”
He explained that each new media technology has social and educational benefits of interactivity to children and adolescents.
