Expert urges young entrepreneurs to be innovative, visionary

Executive Chairman and Founder, Philips Consulting, Mr. Foluso Philips, has urged entrepreneurs to be innovative and visionary to drive socio-economic growth by creating wealth and employment opportunities.

He spoke yesterday in Lagos during FATE Foundation’s 2018 yearly celebration of its entrepreneurship programmes.

The foundation, a profit organisation founded in 2000 by Fola Adeola with the mission to foster wealth creation by promoting business and entrepreneurial development among Nigerians, graduated 347 new entrepreneurs in this year’s edition.

They include 313 entrepreneurs in its aspiring entrepreneur programme, a digital training in partnership with Facebook; 14 entrepreneurs in its emerging entrepreneur programme and 20 scale-up lab accellerator entrepreneurs in the agribusiness space in partnership with Accenture, ACA Foundation and Scale Up Nutrition Business.

The event also featured the launching of her 2018 impact report showcasing its contributions in enabling Nigerian entrepreneurs start, grow and scale businesses as well as the recognition of Founder, SystemSpecs, John Obaro, as FATE Foundation Model Entrepreneur Award winner.

Executive Director of the Foundation, Adenike Adeyemi, said the foundation had provided entrepreneurs with the knowledge, tools, resources and mentoring to start, grow and sustain their business.

“This has been underpinned by our ethos that micro, small and medium enterprises are the most important drivers for socio-economic impact in Nigeria.

“It’s become clearer that with the right business environment, an idea with significant potential can transform into a business delivering high quality products and services while also creating sustainable employment opportunities,” she said.

Founder, Oludidit, Banke Fasominu who graduated from the Aspiring Entrepreneurs Progamme and also gave the valedictory speech, while urging the graduands to always seek for more knowledge, said taking bold step is the greatest challenge of an entrepreneurs.

She further thanked the organisers for giving them the platform to create wealth and become better members of the society.
