For a healthy economy, the National Assembly has been called upon to prioritise laws that foster an enabling environment for businesses across all sectors of the polity.

A public commentator, Babajide Ogunsanwo, who gave the charge in Lagos, also urged the federal lawmakers never to lose sight of global best practices in the course of legislating.

According to him “the lawmakers should focus on creating competition laws to make the sectors more service-driven.”

Ogunsanwo, who was speaking against the backdrop of recent summon of the chief executive officer (CEO) of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Fred Moolman by the House of Representatives, noted that the “creation of a full competition law is more important for the survival of the telecoms sector than attempts towards over-regulation on the part of the legislators.”
