Excitement as Stanel World berths in Awka

Awka, the capital of Anambra State was in frenzy mood recently, as the Chairman/CEO of Stanel Group, Stanley Uzochukwu opened it’s ultra modern mega center, Stanel World. The commissioning ceremony attracted guests from different walks of life, including the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano.

The capital of Anambra State was in frenzy mood recently, as the Chairman/CEO of Stanel Group, Stanley Uzochukwu opened it’s ultra modern mega center, Stanel World. The commissioning ceremony attracted guests from different walks of life, including the Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano.

Strategically located between the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) and the Anambra State Women Development Centre, on the Awka-Enugu expressway, the 1.5 million litres gas capacity plant, was commissioned by Gov. Obiano.

The weeklong event started with a 72-hour non-stop praise on Tuesday, followed by a widow’s empowerment programme, where he reached out to over 1000 widows with cash and material gifts.

In his remarks, Gov. Obiano thanked the Chairman of Stanel Group for coming home to put Anambra on the path of development, while assuring him and other investors of enabling business environment in state throughout his tenure.

He commended the investor for the giant strides to have acquired Chicken Republic franchise in the entire South East region and employed over 700 youths before the takeoff of what he described as the first to none mega complex where everything is available.

It could be recalled that Gov. Obiano, in his Think Anambra” campaign, having seen Stanel Group facility investment in Jos, Plateau State, appealed to Uzochukwu to bring such investment to Awka for the benefit of his people, as well as boost the state economy of the state.

In his opening speech, the Chairman/CEO of Stanel Group, Stanley Uzochukwu thanked the governor for the opportunity accorded him to invest in the state. He disclosed that similar investment currently exist in Jos in Plateau State, Suleja in Niger State, while Benue State is coming up.

“Today, we are also unveiling our high quality products such as Stanel Tyres, Stanel Engine Oil, Stanel Gas Cylinders, etc, and I enjoin Nigerians to imbibe the culture of patronizing made in Nigeria products, for that is the only way we can grow the economy and make Nigeria great.”

The philanthropist further disclosed the giant move his Group, which recently acquired Chicken Republic franchise for the entire Southeast region, saying, “We have built the best and biggest Chicken Republic store with a drive through in the Mega Center, Awka.”

Also available in the luxury Mega Center include a big Farmers’ Market with standby home delivery vehicles, French bakery, pharmacy store, automated car maintenance center, car wash, 1000 sitters capacity chapel, warehouse, supermarket, staff quarters, laundry, spa, event center and others.

Uzochukwu revealed that in preparation to kick-start full business operations in the Mega Center, Stanel Group employed over 700 youths off the street from across Anambra State into various positions.

Among the high profile dignitaries drawn from political class and captains of industry in attendance were Gov. Obiano of Anambra State, who chaired the occasion, his deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, members of his cabinet, Sen. Andy Uba, Sen. Joy Emordi, Sen. Obinna Ogba of Ebonyi Central Constituency, Minister for Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige ably represented, embattled National Chairman of AFGA, Sen. Victor Ike Oye, former deputy governor of Anambra State, Hon. Emeka Sibedi, former minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka.

Others included Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Downstream, Henry Obi, Chairman/CEO of Master Energy, Mr. Uche Oga, Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, Chief Emeka Etiaba (SAN), traditional rulers, Service Chiefs, just to mention but few.

The commissioning ceremony was crowned with the endorsement of Nigerian popular celebrities, including Chiwetalu Agu, Chioma Chukwuka and Uti Nwachukwu as Stanel Group brand ambassadors.
