Ex-freedom fighters under the aegis of the ‘Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI)’ have vowed to join forces with security agencies to fight against all enemies of the Niger Delta, in order to achieve meaningful development in the region before the termination of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

They explained that those involved in criminal acts such as kidnapping, sea piracy, pipeline vandalism and other forms of criminalities are enemies of the region, who are bent on destroying the peace and development of the Niger Delta. The ex-militants added that they, as a body, will collaborate with the various security agencies to fight against these miscreants.

National President of the body, Pastor Reuben Wilson, who made this known to newsmen after an enlarged meeting between members of the organisation recently, said it was time for action and not mere rhetorics.

He declared that the amnesty programme is still on; that they do not therefore expect anybody to parade himself as militant, especially as the programme is aimed at ensuring total peace and development of the region.

According to him,”Those who are still involved in the act of bombing and causing trouble in the region are enemies of progress and the Niger Delta as a whole; and all the leaders of the LPCDI will join hands to fight such criminals and report them to security agencies,” he stated.
