Former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Okpalugo Ifeoma, and three others accused of diverting N1,301,334,108 from the treasury of the Nigeria Police Force, have been docked. They, however, denied the allegations against them.

At their arraignments yesterday before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Lagos Special Offences Court, the six defendants: Okpalugo Ifeoma, Olumide Odumosu and his company Olu Osmond Nigeria Limited, Sule Yusuf Tegina and his Jemmy Yus Investment Nigeria Limited, and Helen Nwafor, took their plea and they all pleaded not guilty.

The defendants are facing 14-count charge for offences allegedly committed contrary to Section 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011 and were liable to be punished under Section 285 (1) of the same Act.

The EFCC prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, prayed for an accelerated hearing. Earlier, O.A Osinfowora had pleaded for bail for the six defendants, but Oyedepo objected the application. Justice Solebo, however, deferred ruling till December 20 and slated December 20 to 22 for trial to commence.
