An Osun State High Court sitting in Ede yesterday ordered the immediate past Acting Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Professor Anthony Elujoba to be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Elujoba was docked along with the bursar of the institution, Mrs. Josephine Akeredolu for alleged financial impropriety.

The presiding Judge, Justice David Oladimeji gave the order that the suspects be remanded in EFCC custody until Tuesday next week when their case would be heard.

The Guardian learnt that the anti-graft agency on Wednesday arrested Elujoba and Akeredolu for alleged financial corruption and abuse of office.

The duo was arraigned on a seven-count charge including intent to steal money belonging to the university and conspiracy to defraud the school among others.

The defence lead Counsel, Ibrahim Lawal, had earlier filed a bail application, urging the court not to grant the prosecution prayer to remand the defendants in Ilesha Prison, but in EFCC custody pending the hearing of the application.

Justice Oladimeji answered the prayer of the defence counsel and ordered the duo be remanded in EFCC custody pending hearing of their bail application next Tuesday.
