EU earmarks €26m for IDPs in Yobe
The European Union (EU) has earmarked about €26 million to directly support over 52,000 internally displaced households in Yobe State.
Launched through the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) yesterday in Yobe, the project was targeted at deepening the EU humanitarian and development assistance to victims of violent displacement in the Northeast.
EU had been assisting Nigeria to address some of the underlying drivers of violent extremism in the country.
Media and information manager of Save the Children, Kunle Olawoyin, said in Abuja that some international partners would implement the project.
Mercy Corps, one of the implementing partners, through its Building Resilience in Complex Crisis (BRCC) programme, would increase the ability of over 26,000 households in Yobe to cope with shocks and stresses of conflict, climate change and complex crisis.
