Enugu State government, yesterday, ordered an autopsy on the deceased body of Mrs Regina Mba, who was allegedly murdered at Nchatancha community, Enugu East Council Area on Thursday by suspected herdsmen.

The pregnant woman was murdered in her farm where she had gone to harvest cassava; a development that triggered off protests in Emene axis of the state.

A statement by the Secretary to the State government, Prof Simeon Ortuanya, said the medical examination would assist security agencies in their ongoing investigations on the matter.

Meanwhile, apex Igbo Socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called for thorough investigation into the monstrous killing of the woman.

President General of Ohanaeze ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo in a statement through his Media aide, Emeka Attamah said though the executive of the body in the state had visited the home of the victim, it was still necessary for him to add his voice to the condemnation of the dastardly and inhuman act.

Nwodo decried the growing tendency of some detractors of the state government who are out to destabilise the peace and tranquility in Enugu State that earned it the sobriquet of the most peaceful state in the country.

He enjoined the state government not to be distracted by enemies of progress, but to continue to carry out measures it has put in place to secure life and property in the state.

Meanwhile, the state Police command, yesterday, dismissed as false, reports of the rape and killing of a woman around St. Bernard road, Nchatancha Nike, Emene, by suspected herdsmen.

Reports said that a woman, whose identities could not be ascertained and a native of Akpugo in Nkanu west council was attacked on her way to Emene market yesterday, raped and killed, adding that the development had sent residents of the area into panic.
