Entrepreneurs to focus on Africa’s transformation at Lagos Startup Week

Unconventional ideas that could transform Africa and tackle the world’s challenges have been prioritised as visionary entrepreneurs gathered yesterday to commence the Lagos Startup Week.

The organisers said the event, which will focus on business growth, strategy, marketing, starting out, and networking, would cut across technology, agriculture, photography, tourism, fashion and music.

On technology, there will be varied discussions on the massive disruption caused in institutions and societal structures by exponential technologies globally.

How to manage the transition and apply these technologies locally, harness the advantage of the trends in solar power and energy storage, fintech and digital currency, virtual reality and augmented reality, among others, will also come under the spotlight at the event.

Deliberations on agritech would grant agricultural investors, innovation drivers, thought leaders, technology enthusiasts, developers and financiers, to see emerging opportunities through the advent of Smartphones and mobile applications to aid agriculture.

The one-week event with the theme: Visionary, scheduled to from September 25 to September 30, 2017 is designed to have 60 sessions and a platform for 160 speakers.

The speakers comprises idealist, founders, industrialists and executives who have used their ingenuity to revolutionise Africa and tackle challenges in various sectors in the global community.

The event will be structured around two sessions with focus on tourism as a driver of economic growth, as well as tourism and the planet: committed to a greener future, among others.
