The Coalition of All Progressives Congress Support Groups on Thursday pleaded with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure free fair and credible chairmanship and councillorship elections in FCT on April 9.

Amb. Sokari Afiesimama, the National Publicity Secretary of the groups, made the plea in a statement, recalling that INEC had conducted similar elections successfully in Bayelsa, Rivers and Kogi recently.

“We believe that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, will seize this opportunity to call to order some mischievous elements to steer clear of unpatriotic activities that may disrupt the elections.

“We have advised and mobilised our members in FCT to be law abiding peaceful and be patriotic during accreditation and voting.

“Nigerians should support the FCT admistration by coming out in their masses to vote out those who are determined to perpetuate evil in governance.

“We, therefore, call on the INEC to create a level playing ground by making the FCT elections acceptable, free and fair,’’ he said.

Afiesmama thanked the media for their roles in creating educative and advocacy programmes during elections.
