Elumelu Foundation to empower 1,000 Northern entrepreneurs
Philanthropist and entrepreneur, Mr. Tony Elumelu, has planned to empower 1,000 young entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria.
The empowerment opportunity, strictly reserved for young Northerners, would run for 12 weeks, after which successful beneficiaries would receive $5,000 each to build their empire.
Elumelu unveiled the scheme, yesterday, while receiving honorary Doctor of Business Administration from Bayero University, Kano.
He urged the Federal Government to abolish multiple taxation for small and micro businesses, as well as ease process of business registration, to further grow economic viability in Nigeria.
Pro-Chancellor, Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, urged the private sector to compliment government’s investment on education.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Mohammed Yauza Bello revealed that of 9,583 first degrees and higher degrees,105 obtained first class.
