Twelve petitioner-witnesses called to testify before the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Tribunal, yesterday told the court that no election took place on December 6 but had only taken place on January ‎9, 2016.

Led in evidence by Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), counsel to the state governor Dickson, the witnesses in their separate testimonies testified to the credibility and peaceful conduct of the January 9, 2016 election.

In his testimony, Bilade Ezekiel, who voted at Polling Unit 15, Ward 10, on January 9, 2016, said there was no election in his community on December 6, 2015 as a result of violence in the area.

Other witnesses; John Joshua, David Thomas, Paul Simon, Ogidi Solomon, Albert Jeff, and Osaribie Macdonald and Uromo Kenoll also gave evidence at the tribunal.

While under cross-examination by counsel to the petitioners, Sebastine Hon (SAN) some of the witnesses however made contradictory statements.
