The Ekiti State Government has denied reports that it recently received N11 billion refunds from the Federal Government for outstanding claims for the repair of Federal roads in the state. It described the rumour as a mischievous attempt by some individuals to undermine the state government’s achievements.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo, said such information would be placed on the portal of the Federal Ministry of Finance if it was the truth. He added the state government has been very transparent and has involved stakeholders in all aspects of governance.

He urged people to disregard all unsubstantiated information, stressing that such malicious rumours were usually initiated to create discord and disaffection for political gains and possible pecuniary benefits without regard for its negative impact on the state.

Ojo also cautioned against spreading falsehood in the state, stressing the need for all stakeholders to join hands together and support government’s efforts at developing the state and improving the lot of the people.

According to him, the honour of The Man of the People recently bestowed on Governor Ayodele Fayose by the Silverbird Television was another confirmation of his transparency and managerial ability. He noted that the governor had positively impacted on all sectors, adding that his all-inclusive programmes had touched every segment of the state.
