EFCC lawyer’s absence stalls Dokpesi’s trial
The trial of former chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi, was yesterday stalled yesterday at the Federal High Court, Abuja due to the absence of the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs.
When the case came up for mention yesterday, the defence counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), said he had got a letter indicating that Jacobs had sought for an adjournment following his engagement at the Supreme Court.
Olanipekun, therefore, urged the court for enough time to enable the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel adjust his timetable which has been running on daily basis.
The trial judge, Justice James Tsoho, subsequently adjourned the matter till June 15.
The trial had also been previously adjourned at the instance of the prosecution counsel, having filed an additional prove of evidence.
Dokpesi was re-arraigned by the anti-graft agency over alleged N2.1 billion fraud to which he has pleaded not guilty.
