EFCC chair slumps, agency confirms his recovery
ECONOMIC and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, yesterday, slumped during the third National Identity Day celebration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
While delivering a goodwill message, he was said to have abruptly paused and staggered back, before falling. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami and other dignitaries reportedly lent hands of support to seeing him out of the hall.
The EFCC boss had, on June 17 at the State House, discountenanced reported threat to his life, stating that the development could not deter him from carrying out his assignment.
Bawa had spoken when he appeared at the weekly ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Media Team. While responding to the alarm that a certain ‘big-man’ had threatened to kill him, Bawa submitted: “One cannot die when his time has not come, no matter the sophistication of the orchestration. Just don’t cross the line, as the EFCC will get you anytime, anywhere.”
REACTING to yesterday’s incident through a statement by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, the anti-graft agency said Bawa, who it insisted felt unwell at a time and returned to his seat, has since received medical attention and back at his desk.
