Educationist urges government to appoint experts into ministries
Director, Brains Premier Montessori School, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, Mrs. Ezinne Nkeiruka Onu, has called on government to appoint seasoned professionals who understands the psychology of teaching and learning as head of its education ministries.
This, according to her would go a long way in ensuring that the right policies are made in the country’s education sector.
In order to unlock the potentials in learners and place Nigeria in its rightful place, Onu said sound educational policies are necessity and must be given utmost priority.
According to her, “Government must ensure that seasoned professionals who understand the psychology of education are recruited to head education ministries so that the right policies would be made. Every stakeholder should know that we are in this industry to shape the destiny of children, as this is a direct investment for the future.
She said with the realisation that growth and development of the nation depends largely on the quality of its educational institutions, efforts must be made to ensure sound policy formation that will engender the desired growth.
The director listed the areas requiring policy reformation to include entrepreneurship education and curriculum at all levels, adding that good policies would no doubt unlock the nation’s economic potentials.
Onu said the school, which was established in November 1996, has the vision to be the best in terms of quality and standard.
