Edo entertainers deplore low patronage, threaten action

ARTISTES in Edo State, under the aegis of Entertainment Association of Edo State  (EAES), have decried alleged low patronage by promoters who instead show preference for their Lagos-based colleagues.

The body at the weekend in Benin City charged promoters to adhere to rule, emphasizing the need for a 60 per cent local content in any entertainment show holding in the state.

The association’s president, Airemen Iselobor, threatened legal action against any show promoter that henceforth disregards their stance.

“What I will strive to do as the new president now is that if you are bringing 40 per cent from Lagos, you must be able to take 60 per cent of our content to make up your show. If you don’t do that, we will take you to court which will end up closing your show,” he asserted.

Iselobor, who was speaking at the body’s unveiling fund raising ceremony where a 10-man executive was inaugurated, urged Governor Adams Oshiomhole and well-meaning individuals in the state to invest in the entertainment industry as a veritable way of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.
