The All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki

The campaign train of Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki arrived at Okada community in Ovia North East Local Government Council yesterday, where it received defectors, including a cousin to the Esama of Benin identified as Ewemade.

And its opponent, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) named the lawmaker representing Edo South in the Senate, Senator Matthew Urhoghide as the Director General of the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation.

At Okada, Obaseki said Oshiomhole had laid the foundation for a solid development in the state, saying, “My job is to raise the house to upstairs because the foundation will carry sky scrapers. We will continue to build on infrastructure, build more roads in the local governments, build more schools and recruit more teachers. We will put more money into Usen Polytechnic to improve the standard of teaching in the school so they can be one of the best in Nigeria.

“The polytechnic will groom students into becoming land inspectors, surveys that can be employed in the state Ministry of Works. We will give small loans to market women. Our major priority is to create empowerment for women and youths.”

The defectors said they decided to dump the PDP due to the developmental projects embarked upon by the APC-led government.Speaking, Oshiomhole vowed to retrieve all the lands, which he said were illegally acquired and hand them over to investors.

The governor said his administration has granted waivers to investors to encourage them establish companies in the state.Ize-Iyamu made the pronouncement at the state secretariat of the party in Benin shortly before leaders and members of the party departed for the palace of Benin Crown Prince and Edaiken N’selu, Eheneden Erediauwa, enroute to a campaign rally in Egor Local Government Council.

He also named the Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, chairman of the Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organization and Chief Tom Ikimi as the chairman of the sub-committee on strategy.

A former Chief of Staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mike Ogiadomhe, is to head the contact committee, while the chairman of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, is to head the publicity committee of the campaign organisation.

Ize-Iyamu named himself chairman of the canvassers committee, while Senator Yisa Braimah is the chairman of the logistics committee.Others chairmen of the sub-committees are Lady Philomena Ihenyen (women), Chief Frank Erewele (Groups), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi (electoral), Jude Imagwe (youths) and Efe Igbinovia (social media).
